So what was the challenge? The big banks were failing SME property developers despite a significant need for homebuilding in Australia. Cash savings were also at a record low with interest rates, creating a unique opportunity to serve both sides of the market.
Fouded in the UK in 2014, CrowdProperty quickly became UK's leading property-specialist peer-to-peer lender. Australia was identified as the priority next market, with requirements to found the Australian entity, raise capital for local self-sufficiency, recruit a team during a COVID shutdown and introduce peer-to-peer lending.
